MISSION STATEMENT

The Sub Committee for Statutes and Regulations was established at the AICA Congress in Slovakia in September 2013, with the immediate goal of presenting Statutes and Regulations which would be transparent and adequate for the work of the Association. In the longer term, it plays a part in ensuring that the Statutes and Regulations are respected and correctly followed. At the Congress in Havana in October 2016 updated international Statutes and Regulations were approved by the General Assembly. The Regulations contain Appendix 1 Financial Standing Instructions. It has been the Committee’s objective to have consistent terminology. At the General Assembly in Paris November 2017 the Sub Committee was transformed into a full, standing Committee with the purpose of amending the international Statutes and Regulations, where appropriate and revising the National Statutes, so that everything would be in line with the international Statutes. To that end, a Draft model National Statutes has been established, which is available on the website. The next step is to provide French and Spanish versions of that document.

The Sections should now say whether they accept the Draft model or wish to diverge in any way. They should inform the Committee about their specific problems. Reporting on deviations from the ‘norm’ should be by exception – i.e. confined to such amendments as may be considered necessary, to bring things into line with legal and other local conditions.

The Committee collaborates with other Committees, where relevant – e.g. in assessing the eligibility of applications to form new Sections. (Updated December 9, 2020)
